Empowering Homebuyers to Make Confident Selections

The Options Catalog Web Application was created to help buyers explore, understand, and select home customization options with confidence. Unlike the Model Showcase, which focused on features installed in model homes, this tool gave buyers access to all available customization options, including flooring, kitchen finishes, appliances, bathroom fixtures, and exterior selections.

Challenge

Helping Buyers Navigate a Vast Selection of Customization Options

At GL Homes, buyers visit the Design Studio to personalize their new homes by selecting finishes, layouts, and upgrades. However, the traditional selection process had several challenges:

  • Overwhelming number of choices made it difficult for buyers to compare options.
  • Lack of a centralized resource for buyers to browse selections before visiting the Design Studio.
  • Repetitive inquiries to design coordinators, slowing down the process.
  • Decisions often had to be made on the spot, leading to buyer hesitation.

The experience needed a structured digital solution that would allow buyers to review and compare options on their own time before making final selections.

Solution

A Digital Options Catalog for Seamless Home Customization

The Options Catalog Web Application provided buyers with an interactive, organized, and visually rich tool for exploring all available customization options. Instead of feeling overwhelmed, buyers could:

  • Browse all customization options in a structured, easy-to-navigate digital catalog.
  • Filter selections by categories such as flooring, cabinetry, appliances, and fixtures.
  • View high-resolution images and details of each option, helping them make informed decisions.
  • Prepare for Design Studio appointments by reviewing selections in advance.

For design coordinators, the tool streamlined consultations by giving buyers a structured way to explore options before meetings, leading to faster, more confident decisions.

Helping Buyers Navigate Choices with Ease

With 1,299 available options across 12+ categories, the sheer number of choices made home customization overwhelming for buyers. Before the Options Catalog Web Application, they relied solely on in-person visits, sorting through physical samples with guidance from design coordinators—often spending hours navigating options they had never seen before.

By introducing a structured, digital experience, the Options Catalog eliminated guesswork, allowing buyers to explore and understand selections ahead of time. This led to faster decision-making, reduced in-person consultation time, and a more efficient, user-driven customization process.
